A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.
“He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Although I felt the call to serve early in my life answering that call through ordained ministry came later. I have been serving St James United Church of Christ since 2004. First as their licensed lay leader while I completed seminary and then as their ordained called pastor.
I was born and raised in a blue color working neighborhood in Detroit. I have a lifetime relationship with the church. My faith foundations were nurtured early in life. For as far back as I can remember, I went to St. Martha’s Episcopal Church in Detroit every Sunday. We were active in the children’s choir, acolytes, Sunday school, Confirmation classes and every other activity we could participate in. I felt I had a strong relationship with God.
Ever since I was a child, I have experienced the loving presence of God in my life. Throughout my journey, my most intimate moments have been those moments spent with God. My entire life I have sensed that God has been calling me to serve. I believe that I have an intimate and growing personal relationship with God, have an open mind and an accepting and respecting heart and spirit. I have come to trust the life process knowing that God is always with me. I try to be consistent in all areas of my life, building relationships based on trust and integrity while maintaining high ethical standards and behavior.
I humbly believe that as part of God’s creation, I am a spiritual being living in covenant with all of God’s creation. I believe that all people are children of God each with a unique blend of gifts. We are all called to be good stewards of and care for all of God’s creation. For more about my personal and faith journey see the attached…
